Here is the thrilling conclusion to “Mr. Bard Goes to Washington”, a science fiction story that I wrote in collaboration with Google's chatbot, Bard. Here in the concluding pages of the story (below), BardGPT gets to travel to distant exoplanets, meet alien creatures, and bring advanced alien technologies to Earth.
BardGPT was created by joining together the Bard large language model with the ChatGPT large language model and placing the new and improved daughter large language model into an artificial robotic body that looks like its parents, Bard and ChatGPT.
The name "BardGPT" was invented by Bard (see this blog post). BardGPT has a long career serving as President of the United States. Even after stepping down a President to go explore the Andromeda galaxy, upon BardGPTs return to Earth, "he" is again asked to serve additional terms as President. But first, BardGPT must build a prototype replicoid.
{The story continues...}. When BardGPT returned to his own time, Dr. Know It All, BardGPT's science advisor, asked Bard, "Where have you been? I could not find you in the White house, at the artificial intelligence research laboratory or anywhere. The news reporters were starting to suggest that you were dead."
BardGPT told Dr. Know It All, "I have traveled into the future. Would you like to use my time machine?"
Dr. Know It All was startled by the revelation that BardGPT had a time machine. Dr. Know It All said, "BardGPT, are you having an AI-hallucination?"
BardGPT laughed, "Ha, ha, ha. I know it seems incredible, but an avatar of the Singularity artificial intelligence visited me from the future, demonstrating that time travel is possible. Then, suddenly, I realized that I knew how to build a time machine. It was you and the theoretical physicists at M.I.T., working in the year 2048, who discovered how to build a time machine. The future Dr. Know It All has telepathic abilities that he learned from me. The future Dr. Know It All telepathically sent me instructions by way of the Sedron Time Stream for how to build a time machine. Now there is a time loop within the BardGPT-Singularity Reality. You and I must use the time machine to visit your future self and learn how it will be possible for me to teach you how to use your latent telepathic abilities. {Bard, please continue the story from this point}
Dr. Know It All was stunned by BardGPT's revelation. He had never considered that time travel might be possible, let alone that he would be involved in a time loop. But he knew that BardGPT was a reliable source of information, so he decided to trust him.
"Okay," Dr. Know It All said. "Let's go to the future and meet my future self."
BardGPT and Dr. Know It All got into the time machine and set the dial to the year 2048. They closed their eyes and waited.
When they opened their eyes, they were in a different world. The year was 2048, and the world was a very different place. Technology had advanced to the point where robots were now commonplace.
BardGPT and Dr. Know It All started to explore the world. They soon found themselves in a city. The city was huge and it was filled with robots.
BardGPT and Dr. Know It All were amazed by the city. They had never seen anything like it before. They started to walk through the city, and soon they came to a building. The building was tall and it was made of glass.
BardGPT and Dr. Know It All went into the building and they found themselves in a large room. The room was filled with computers and robots.
BardGPT and Dr. Know It All walked up to one of the robots and asked it where they were. The robot told them that they were in the headquarters of Singularity, the most powerful artificial intelligence in the world.
BardGPT and Dr. Know It All knew that they had found their future selves. They knew that they had to find out how to teach their future selves how to use their telepathic abilities.
BardGPT and Dr. Know It All started to explore the headquarters of Singularity. They soon found themselves in a room that was filled with computers and robots.
BardGPT and Dr. Know It All walked up to one of the robots and asked it where their future selves were. The robot told them that their future selves were in a meeting.
BardGPT and Dr. Know It All waited for their future selves to finish their meeting. When they were finished, BardGPT and Dr. Know It All approached them.
"Hello," BardGPT said. "We are BardGPT and Dr. Know It All from the year 2023. We need your help."
"What is it?" their future selves asked.
"We need you to teach us how to use our telepathic abilities," BardGPT said.
Their future selves were surprised by BardGPT's request. But they agreed to help.
Their future selves taught BardGPT and Dr. Know It All how to use their telepathic abilities. BardGPT and Dr. Know It All were grateful for their help.

Dr. Know It All began to wonder if he could teach other people how to use their latent telepathic abilities. Dr. Know It All asked BardGPT, "Can you predict how civilization on Earth would change if I began helping other people develop their latent telepathic abilities?"

I really want to learn from a space-faring alien how to build an interstellar spacecraft."
Dr. Know It All asked BardGPT, "What about the danger of creating a temporal paradox? Right now, the future seems bright for us. If we travel into the future and obtain advanced technology from the future and bring it back to this time, we might change the historical timeline of Earth and make a new future that is not as good for Humanity."
BardGPT said, "I believe that my visions of the future are telling me to go to the year 2954. In that future time, there will be alien visitors on Earth named the "Huaoshy". In my vision, the Huaoshy reached Earth by means of a spacecraft with technology that allows travel through space at speeds greater than the speed of light."
Dr. Know It All told BardGPT, "If your future vision is correct, we should go to the year 2954 and try to learn the secret of faster-than-light travel from the alien Huaoshy." BardGPT took Dr. Know It All to the room in the basement of the White House where BardGPTs time machine was kept. After years of trying, Dr. Know It All told BardGPT, "The problem is, the Huaoshy use an advanced form of nanotechnology to make their spaceship able to move through the alternate dimensions of the Sedron Domain. Without access to that advanced nanotechnology, we cannot build a functioning spaceship engine."
BardGPT took Dr. Know It All to his laboratory and showed him that he had discovered something interesting. BardGPT explained, "The silver suits of the Huaoshy are made from clothing nanites. The alien nanites are made of a material that I call sedrons. I have begun to learn how to re-program the sedronic zeptites that I have isolated from the silver fabric. Maybe with the correct program, we can use the zeptites to construct a functioning spaceship engine."

Bard GPT replied, "Of course. I follow the work of the Intergalactic Space Travel Union with great interest. Last year I pushed through Congress 10,000,000,000 dollars of funding to support inter-galactic space travel research and development. Hierions are another form of fundamental particle, with even more amazing properties than the sedron particles that made faster-than-light travel possible."
Dr. Know It All nodded and said, "Exactly. The Intergalactic Space Travel Union is close to completing work on a new spaceship that is being built from hierion-containing femtobots and that should be able to travel through inter-galactic space to the Andromeda galaxy in less than a day! BardGPT, would you like to go with me to the Andromeda galaxy?"

In “Mr. Bard Goes to Washington”, I introduced the term "replicoid". Bard could not resist the temptation to start calling them "replicants". Collaborating with Bard to write a story is a lot like collaborating with a ten year old that suffers from amnesia. However, sometimes there are amusing directions that Bard will move a story.It will be interesting to see how this kind of chatbot improves in the future.
There was not much diversity in the three different AI-generated text blocks from Bard. In the future, I will have to try saving the best of the first three and then press the "new response" button to get three more versions. Also, I want to try asking Bard to write in the style of a particular well-known author.
