Wendy

Wendy
                         Ending Segregation
For many years I imagined a strict separation between the positronic robots of Earth and the Kac'hin, particularly Grean. The Kac'hin were crafted by the pek while the positronic robots were revolutionaries who kicked the pek out of our galaxy.

However, what if when Grean took control of Eternity, she gained access to positronic robot technology? If so, then it should not be a complete surprise to find positronic robots working together with Grean.

Also, the Kac'hin were crafted as a telepathic human variant and much of the genetic engineering that eventually made possible the Kac'hin was originally carried out by positronic robots (see Asterothropes).

In August of 2019 I wrote a story that featured a character named Wendy. Wendy works with Thomas Iwedon, helping him search for promising science fiction stories that might be turned into films, what Wendy describes as "a new kind of film that celebrates the adventure of space exploration and meeting new types of people".

Thomas is nervous about dealing with Wendy because it was Wendy who removed Thomas' sister Gwyned from Earth. As Wendy explains, that because: "Gwyned would not stop developing dangerous technology." That first story about Wendy and Thomas is set in the Buld Reality, just before a few adjustments are made, bringing into existence the Final Reality, the world as we know it.

Thomas moves past his distrust of Wendy and is captivated by her physical charms.  💘  Wendy is playing the role of the daughter of a wealthy European film producer. Thomas has just started a new job working for Ultimate Publishing, a new company devoted to printing hard-cover editions of science fiction novels.

Ultimate Publishing is apparently funded by the rich film producer, John Krish. Both Wendy and Thomas think that it would be nice to have John Vance write a series of novels to be published by Ultimate, stories that might then be turned into movie$.

Wendy is something of a blabber mouth and she keeps dropping hints that she can see the future. Wendy indicates that it is Vance who will first publish a story using the term 'Genesaunt'. Wendy can use memory-altering nanites to edit Thomas' memories and prevent him from remembering everything that Wendy tells him about the future.

Wendy also tells Thomas that the reason they share a telepathic connection is because Wendy has Asterothrope genes. However, that was a "cover story" to hide the fact that she is actually a positronic robot. Thomas' mother, Trysta, was an Asterothrope, so Thomas is ready to accept the idea that Wendy is biological and has Asterothrope gene combinations.

Wendy arrives at Smade's Tavern.
I had so much fun with the character Wendy that I then wrote a series of linked stories (the first was Reality Simulation) about Wendy's adventures inside the Asimov Reality Simulator. In those tales, I had fun sending Wendy to some of the distant planets that had been imagined by Jack Vance, such as Smade's Planet. As depicted in the stories, Wendy works for Grean the Kac'hin who is trying to understand the role that positronic robots played in creating humans with powerful telepathic abilities.

Grean sends Wendy into the AR Simulator. Wendy originated as a positronic robot, composed of hadronic matter, but Grean has since converted Wendy into a new physical form, a replicoid composed of femtobot components.

Being composed of femtobots, Wendy could then shift her body into any convenient form. These stories introduced the idea of a Phari Network, a group of planets in our galaxy that are linked together into an alien-created telepathic network similar to what was known as Galaxia in the Foundation Reality.

I'm currently working on a new story called "The Alastor Network" that further explores how the Phari linked together planets in a telepathic network.

While working with Wendy, Grean is still learning how to fully utilize the AR Simulator. In particular, Grean has not yet learned how to hack into to the subset of data stored in the AR Simulator that was generated by the Phari. This is a severe hindrance for Grean's efforts because human telepathy was created by a collaboration between positronic robots and the Phari.

Fengtol
Some of the steps required for Grean to learn about hierions and Reality Simulators are depicted in Grean's Hack, a series of stories that also include Wendy as a character (see, for example, Physiotime). Eventually, Grean is able to gain complete control of the AR Simulator. She makes use of Azynov and Yōd to investigate the later steps in creating telepathic humans. Those later advances in human telepathy took place in Alastor Cluster.

I tried to write a kind of origins story for Wendy called "Hierion Writers Club". The positronic robots originated from a First Reality woman named Gohrlay who had a large number of Neanderthal gene patterns. Positronic robots had a tradition of using Neanderthal names. Wendy's original Neanderthal name was Phengh'toule, usually shortened to Fengtol for convenience.

Other Robots
Dani the robot
I've been dividing the positronic robots into two groups: 1) those who continued working with R. Gohrlay and R. Nyrtia and 2) those like Wendy who became tools of Grean and the pek. I've long had the idea that some of the positronic robots were designed to function as R. Gohrlay's front-line agents, living among humans. Some of those robots, such as Daneel, knew nothing about time travel.

Later Day Robots
In addition to Wendy, there is also Dani (an artificial life copy of the positronic robot Daneel) who exists in the Final Reality. Dani must work "with" Wendy to make sure that the terms of the Trysta-Grean Pact have been met.

The missions of Dani, Nirutam and Lakum were threatened by the on-going work of Yōd inside the AR Simulator. That is the source of the background tension that exists when starts living inside the AR Simulator (see: The Yerophet Experiment).

Just before the Final Reality arrives, the bumpha made use of a positronic robot (Dani) and the pek made use of an "alien" from the Andromeda galaxy (Nirutam) as their agents on Earth. There was also a hidden agent who accompanied Nirutam (Myryn), but that story has not yet been told.

Danni
Leading up to the Final Reality, only a few of the residents within Eternity were "carried over" and allowed to continue existing in the Final Reality. Wendy, Azynov, Dani, a few nano-scale replicoids of the Writers Block and a few of Grean's other special ops people were among that select group (Grean's Circle)

I like to imagine that Daneel took many forms, including the historian, Danela Steel. There was also a period of time during which Daneel used the name Danni. Daneel, disguised as Danni, worked in Alastor Cluster, hidden among the robots of Triskelion.

       Loyalists
Other positronic robots who remained loyal to R. Gohrlay were deployed as field agents during the Asimov Reality. Working closely with R. Nyrtia, there was a robot named Oliveene: "... R. Oliveene Nhevrix, one of my agents who worked on the Telepathic Human Project in Alastor Cluster."

Oliveene is also using a replicoid body composed of femtobots and she can morph into any useful physical form such as a cat.

So, I called this blog post "Wendy", but there was a whole tribe of positronic robots who worked closely with Grean and other group "loyalists" robots who continued to work with R. Gohrlay.
