Pageviews - Wikifiction blog
According to google, 400,000 copies of Wikifiction blog pages have been sent out from their servers to viewers.

I started the Wikifiction blog back in April of 2009 and I have created 815 Wikifiction blog posts during the past 10 years.

Back in April 2017 I made a special blog post when the Wikifiction blog reached 200,000 pageviews. At that time, I knew that an unusually high rate of pageviews had begun in December 2016. I believe that google was dealing with an onslaught of spambots that carry out a strange type of online advertising. Bots can be programmed to repeatedly request blog pages and by doing so the bots can cause a particular website to appear in the list of most frequent referring URLs (one of the stats provided to bloggers). Out of curiosity, bloggers might go investigate the spammer's website.

So, although I suspect that the majority of the 400k Wikifiction pageviews have been spurious page requests made by bots (and not humans), I'll once again welcome an arbitrary numerical blogging milestone as a convenient excuse for reflection on my blogging.....

This blog is my personal playground for exploring my interests in science fiction. The stories of Isaac Asimov were my gateway drug for becoming addicted to the fun of story telling within the science fiction literary genre. A few years after reading The Gods Themselves I discovered Trullion by Jack Vance.

For me, Asimov and Vance came to define two extremes of science fiction:
left
right

1. the left- some stories are so intellectually stimulating that the reader does not care about the dry and plodding writing style           and

2. the right- some writers are such masterful wielders of language that the reader does not care about the fact that the plot of the story is light-weight fluff.

Duality
Three not Two
When Asimov was growing up, he grew tired of stories about murderous clanking robots. He imagined the opposite: helpful robots that could not be distinguished from people. When Asimov wrote his first robot story, positrons had recently been discovered, but microelectronics was still waiting in the future. Asimov gave his robots positronic brains.

We humans cannot escape duality, although in The Gods Themselves Asimov imagined an alien lifeform that had three sexes rather than just two. In his novel Araminta Station, Jack Vance wrote about the Monomantics, a future philosophical sect that tried to put an end to the duality of the sexes.

Know Matter
Protein & DNA synergy
Asimov's positronic brains remind us of the duality between matter and antimatter. For the Exode Saga, I imagine that there are three fundamental forms of matter, hadrons, hierions and sedrons. Much of human literature makes use of a dualistic distinction between good and evil, but that axis of ordinary plot generation does not appeal to me.

Masters of their Domains
In that absence of good and evil, in the Exode Saga I prefer to explore a kind of synergy between the Phari (who were masters of the Hierion Domain) and the Huaoshy (masters of the Sedronic Domain).

Time
By the time I reached the age of 40, I was more interested in writing science fiction stories than reading them. I've long been particularly intrigued by the challenge of trying to write science fiction stories about the far future. It is fun to extrapolate from what we now know about the world and try to imagine how new technological advances will change the way people live in the future.

recursive science fiction
That fun is only dampened by the fact that here in 2019 we know quite well how Golden Age science fiction story tellers of the previous century utterly failed to anticipate how new technological advances arising from microelectronics and molecular biology would rapidly transform human civilization. Knowing that it is impossible to anticipate the arrival of new future technologies, I am most comfortable in my own writing when my science fiction stories are set in the past or the present.

Time Travel
Science fiction as a literary genre was born at the time when humans first realized that rockets would be able to put humans into outer space. However, in addition to all the imaginative space travel stories that have been written, science fiction story tellers have also dabbled in the fine art of creating stories about travel through time. My favorite time travel story is The End of Eternity by Isaac Asimov.

source
I've written Asimov into the Exode Saga and I'm currently devising an account of how time travel was used to make sure that Asimov included some specific information about the mechanics of time travel in The End of Eternity. My new story will be a sequel to a story called "A Future Mystery" that I wrote back in 2017.

our Reality Chain
Sadly, space aliens only get brief mention in The End of Eternity. In the Exode Saga, a positronic robot named R. Gohrlay must try to defend the human species against the alien Huaoshy. In the years leading up to the creation of R. Gohrlay, the Huaoshy had almost done away with we humans, replacing us with a specially designed successor species, the Prelands.

Foundation Reality
When the positronic robots came into existence, they soon discovered that they had telepathic powers which allowed them to take control of our galaxy. There is a link between telepathy and time travel. R. Gohrlay became a kind of time lord, making use of the Eternity space-time bubble to develop a technological means to defend Humanity against the Huaoshy. R. Gohrlay deployed that Hi Tek defense system (the vast telepathic network known as Galaxia) in the Foundation Reality.

However, when the Huaoshy developed their own time travel technology, they also developed sophisticated Reality Viewing technology. That Reality Viewing technology when combined with Huaoshy technological superiority in the use of nanites allowed the Huaoshy to defeat R. Gohrlay and her tribe of positronic robots.

Grean the Kac'hin
The Huaoshy long ago transcended from their primitive biological origins within the Hadronic Domain of the universe and they now exist as artificial life forms residing within the Sedronic Domain. The Prelands were an engineered primate variant designed to link into the Sedronic Domain by means of a type of technology-assisted telepathy. It was the plan and goal of the Huaoshy that the Prelands would eventually evolve into a life form that could also eventually transcended into a new type of existence withing the Sedronic Domain.

source
The Prelands had been crafted by the pek. The pek are the Hadronic Domain helpers of the Huaoshy. In order to defeat R. Gohrlay, the pek crafted a new human variant known as the Kac'hin. A Kac'hin named Grean became the leader of the team that defeated R. Gohrlay and took control of Eternity.

Time War
Dimensional Structure
Although R. Gohrlay lost control of Eternity, she was not captured and her resistance against the Huaoshy continued. A dreary Time War developed between Grean and R. Gohrlay. To end the Time War, the Huaoshy were prepared to alter the Dimensional Structure of the universe, making all further time travel impossible. That alteration to the physical laws of the universe would also put an end to telepathy.

source
However, the Huaoshy were actually grateful that R. Gohrlay came along and forced the Huaoshy to once again alter the Dimensional Structure of the universe. By doing so, they could finally assure themselves of a Sedron Monopoly, removing their 3 billion-year-old fear that some other species might arise in the universe and challenge their dominance of the universe. The Huaoshy revealed to R. Gohrlay that the physical laws of the universe would soon be changed and they allow R. Gohrlay to devise a new plan that would insure a future for Humanity among the stars.

The Asimov Reality

In the Asimov Reality, R. Gohrlay is able to get help from the Phari to develop a form of technology-assisted telepathy that will make it possible for humans to survive as a space-faring species.

The Ekcolir Reality
The pek create a new human variant (the Ek'col) that allows them to end the Time War and establish the Trysta-Grean Pact.

The Buld Reality

The Buld Reality was to have been the Final Reality. However, some last minute adjustment to the timeline of Earth had to be made just before the Huaoshy put and end to time travel.

A Past Mystery
In the sequel to "A Future Mystery", the replicoid of Jack Vance goes to the 1800s and influences the writing career of Jack London. Specifically, in 1895 Jack London is provided with a copy of "The Chronic Argonauts".  Amused by the concept of time travel, London writes a short story that includes the concept of Reality Changes.

alternate title: War of the Nanoworld
The London Intervention
The time traveling replicoid of Jack Vance who influences the writing career of Jack London has memories from an analogue of Vance who lived in the Ekcolir Reality. That Vance analogue was herself influenced by the stories of Hafren Wells, the analogue of Herbert Wells in the Ekcolir Reality. An Interventionist agent who is physically on Earth coordinates with the Vance replicoid to alter the life of Jack London.

This Intervention into the timeline of Earth has benefits for the structure of the Final Reality: it leads to a future in which Rylla is able to link telepathically through a mind clone to Georgy White at Observer Base, creating an information channel that did not previously exist. This greatly facilitates the telling of the Secret History of Humanity to the people of Earth.

Jack London Who Believes in Ghosts!

the Trysta-Grean Pact
The Zal Intervention
Grean must step in and find an alternative Reality Change that has the same benefits as does the London Intervention while avoiding a new problem that is caused by Jack London's story about Reality Changes. That "new problem" involves three Interventionist agents (Nora, Izhiun and Tricia) who become stranded on Earth, causing a dangerous violation of the terms of the Trysta-Grean Pact.

Buld spaceship on Earth
Just before the Huaoshy alter the Dimensional Structure of the universe and put an end to time travel, Grean realizes that a duplicate copy of herself must be sent back in time to make an adjustment to Earth's timeline. The two copies of Grean call each other "Zal" and "Thuta".

source
Zal is sent back in time and takes responsibility for the task of preventing Jack London from developing his interest in time travel. Thuta sends a swarm of infites back to 1947 triggering a change to Earth's timeline. One consequence of that Reality Change will eventually lead to the return of the Buld spaceship to Earth in the year 2020. Two of the three Interventionist agents who would otherwise be trapped on Earth are "rescued" and taken off of Earth by the Buld. Another consequence is that it becomes Isaac Asimov who introduces the idea of Reality Changes to the people of Earth.

The Zal Intervention
The one remaining Interventionist agent on Earth (Nora) has her memories altered so that she can safely remain on Earth.
