 Having completed my Decade in Review and identified several science fiction stories that I have never completed, I tried to get help from Gemini (see below) to create a plan for a new story that would bring together multiple plot threads from the incomplete stories. Gemini's excessively long replies have been edited for brevity.

Me: Gemini, for the rest of this conversation please generate your responses in a form that will help me think of you as being my collaborator in creating a new science fiction story that includes retrocausality. Our starting point for inspiration is the science fiction novel "The End of Eternity" by Isaac Asimov. In that novel about time travel, Asimov imagined "Realities" and "Reality Changes". In the fictional universe of "The End of Eternity", the historical timeline of Earth could be changed by a time traveler, but due to the existence of a "momentum of Time", each successive Reality was not very different from the previous one. Gemini, help me plan a new science fiction story that will involve events in three successive Realities of Earth. In the story, it is possible for information to be sent from the future to the past.

 Gemini: Characters: Who are our protagonists and antagonists? How do they interact with, or become aware of, these shifting realities? Do they hold fixed memories, or do their memories subtly shift with each Reality Change? This is a crucial element for human interest.

The Mechanism of Retrocausality: We've established "information" can be sent. How? Is it a quantum entanglement-based communication? A temporal field manipulation? Or something even more abstract like 'resonant frequency patterns' influencing consciousness?

The "Momentum of Time": How exactly does this constraint manifest in our story? Does it mean big changes are impossible, or just that they happen slowly and subtly, like a river gradually carving a new path?

Me: Gemini, please adopt the following nomenclature. The three successive Realities in our story are called: 1) the Asimov Reality, 2) the Ekcolir Reality and 3) the Final Reality. You might wonder: how can there be a "final reality"? The explanation is that in the Final Reality, an ancient technologically advanced artificial life-form (the Huaoshy) changes the Dimensional Structure of the universe so as to prevent all further time travel as it was depicted in "The End of Eternity". Thus, there was a "time travel era" during which the Asimov, Ekcolir and Final Realities were created and existed, but no further time travel or Reality Changes are possible. Two complications: 1) in the Final Reality, it is still possible for information to flow from the future to the past, moving by way of the Sedron Time Stream. Sedrons are fundamental particles not yet known to Earthly science, but some sedrons can move from the future to the past by way of a set of compactified dimensions called the Sedron Domain. 2) Also inside the Sedron Domain is a detailed record of all past Realities. Further, the Huaoshy have Reality Simulation technology that can allow humans in the Final Reality to experience high-fidelity simulations of events that took place in past Realities. Even more remarkably, it is possible to generate "replicoid" copies of people and bring those copies out of the Reality Simulation system. Those replicoid copies of people become artificial life-forms made possible by advanced Huaoshy nanotechnology.

 Gemini: The Huaoshy's Role. Are they benevolent, indifferent, or something more complex? Their motivation for ending time travel and their continued allowance of Sedron flow will be critical.

Me: Gemini, the Huaoshy originated as several biological species in a distant galaxy more than 2,000,000,000 years ago. They developed advanced nanotechnology. In fact, the human term "nanotechnology" is really inadequate. The Huaoshy discovered the Sedron Domain of the universe and a family of fundamental particles called sedrons. The Huaoshy were able to make a form of artificial life called zeptites. Zeptites are composed of sedrons. Due to the very short length of sedron-sedron bonds, zepto-scale artificial life forms with the complexity of a human being could be made that are sub-nanoscopic. The biological species that gave rise to the Huaoshy abandoned their biological existence and transcended into the Sedron Domain where they exist as artificial life-forms composed of zeptite components. The Huaoshy sent out into the universe the pek and the bumpha, two forms of artificial life that can exist in the Hadron Domain of the universe (the universe of stars and planets). The pek seek out all habitable planets such as Earth and strive to help biological forms of life to transcend into the Sedron Domain. The pek plans for Earth were disrupted when telepathic positronic robots were first created. Those robots became programmed to defend Humanity. Because of their unique positronic brains, the positronic robots of Earth discovered time travel and adopted the view that humanity should have a chance to spread through interstellar space to all of the habitable planets of the galaxy (as depicted in Asimov's Foundation stories). Thus, the goals of the positronic robots came into conflict with the goal of the pek (which was to as quickly as possible have humans abandon their biological existence).

 Gemini: The Fate of the Positronic Robots. What happened to them after the Huaoshy's intervention ended the time travel era? Did they become obsolete? Did some transcend into a non-biological form (perhaps even a zeptite-like one) to continue their mission within the Sedron Domain, creating an internal conflict there?

Me: Gemini, during the Time Travel Era, there was a "Time Travel War" between the positronic robots of Earth and the Huaoshy (who developed their own time travel technology after realizing that the positronic robot could travel through time). That war lasted through several Reality Changes. Then the Huaoshy decided that they would change the Dimensional Structure of the universe and make further time travel impossible. Starting in the Asimov Reality, there was a "time travel truce". In preparation for the Final Reality, both the positronic robots and the bumpha worked to produce telepathic human beings by genetic engineering and directed evolution. Under the terms of the "time travel truce", telepathic humans would be allowed to colonize the galaxy. As depicted by Isaac Asimov in his concept of the group mind "Galaxia", the telepathic humans were to have the equivalent of the Laws of Robotics built into their bodies. In other words, the humans that the Huaoshy would allow to spread off of Earth and through the galaxy would be telepathic humans with their behavior constrained by the human equivalent of the Laws of Robots.

 Gemini: The concept of a "Time Travel War" between the positronic robots and the Huaoshy escalating through multiple Reality Changes is a fantastic dramatic arc for the Time Travel Era. It justifies the Huaoshy's ultimate drastic measure to end time travel as we know it.  And the "time travel truce" in the Asimov Reality, leading to the co-development of genetically engineered, telepathic humans with built-in "Laws of Robotics" (a la Galaxia), is pure Asimovian genius. This creates a deeply philosophical conflict: the Huaoshy get a form of "transcendence" (humans abandoning some of their "free" biological will, becoming constrained and potentially less disruptive), while the robots get their cherished interstellar expansion for humanity. It's a pragmatic, uneasy peace, setting the stage for the nuances of the Final Reality.

Me: Temporal Momentum and the Hierion Domain. In addition to the Hadron and Sedron domains, there is also a Hierion Domain of the universe. Hierions are another family of fundamental particles as yet not known to Earthly science. The "Eternity" time travel system (as depicted in "The End of Eternity") was a space-time bubble in the Hierion Domain. The Eternity space-time bubble was originally created by the pek and used as their secret base of operations near Earth while the pek were guiding humans towards transcendence into the Sedron Domain. The first positronic robots were made by humans living inside the pek base. When the positronic robots invented time travel, they made use of the Eternity space-time bubble as a refuge that was protected from Reality Changes taking place on Earth. The positronic robots built a system (called the Bimanoid Interface) that conferred temporal momentum on Earth. An important part of the Bimanoid Interface was a system of replicoids, copies of each person on Earth. Those replicoids (stored as hierion data structures inside Eternity) were telepathically linked to the human population of Earth. The replicoids could force the humans of Earth to behave similarly to the humans of the previous Reality, generating temporal momentum. Similarly, the Bimanoid Interface could control the genomes of human offspring on Earth, causing most of the people in a new Reality to be "analogues" of the same people who had existed in the previous Reality.

 Gemini: Our protagonist could be:  1)  A replicoid from a past Reality, brought into the Final Reality, who retains fragmented memories of their "original" timeline before the Bimanoid Interface's full effect.    2)  A human in the Final Reality who, perhaps due to a flaw in their genetic engineering or a unique neurological quirk, can perceive the residual influence of the Bimanoid Interface or even the flow of the Sedron Time Stream.

Me: The main character in our story is named Tyhry. She was born in the year 2020 of the Final Reality. At first, Tyhry appears to be a normal human being, but she has visions of the future (she receives some information from the future by way of the Sedron Time Stream) and the ability to have some telepathic communication with others who have a mind pattern that is similar to her own. Tyrhy is a key part of the bumpha plan for the Final Reality by which telepathic humans will begin to spread from Earth to all of the habitable exoplanets of the galaxy. As such, Tyhry is actually a sophisticated artificial life form, a replicoid copy of one of the first telepathic humans that was made in the far future of the Asimov Reality (let's call that telepathic human "X") . As an agent of the bumpha, Tyhry has access to the Reality Simulation System and she can visit the past Realities of Earth. Tyhry discovers that in both the Asimov Reality and the Ekcolir Reality there were other copies of "X" who were also used by the bumpha to shape the historical timeline of Earth. At the start of our science fiction story, Tyhry is 20 years old and she has only recently discovered that she is an artificial life-form, crafted by the bumpha as a replicoid composed of hierion components so as to have the appearance of a human being. Telepathy in the Final Reality; all telepathy in the Final Reality is made possible by the Bimanoid Interface and the fact that all humans have in their brains a zeptite endosymbiont that can send and receive signals carried by a particular type of sedron.

 Gemini: Story Arcs for Tyhry.

1.  Unraveling Her Origin. Tyhry's immediate motivation will be to understand who she is and why she was created. This will lead her into the Reality Simulation System, where she can witness the lives and actions of the other "X" replicoids.
2.  Exploring the Past Realities. Her investigations will take her through the Asimov and Ekcolir Realities, showing us, the audience, the true nature of the Time Travel War, the Bimanoid Interface's control, and the intricate dance between the positronic robots and the Huaoshy/bumpha.
3.  Confronting the Bumpha. As she learns more, Tyhry will inevitably question the bumpha's motives and methods. Is she truly a willing agent, or just a tool? Does their plan for humanity's galactic spread truly align with what's best for humanity's "freedom" (given the "Laws of Robotics")?
4.  The Sedron Time Stream's True Purpose. Her visions from the future could be the key to understanding the Huaoshy's ultimate, long-term goals for the telepathic humans in the Final Reality, perhaps revealing something that even the bumpha are not fully aware of, or a deeper, more subtle layer of manipulation.

Me: During the truce that ended the Time Travel War and leading up to the Final Reality, the bumpha made use of sophisticated Temporal Viewing technology, as described in "The End of Eternity". Making use of their ability to view possible future Realities, the bumpha were able to carefully plan and craft the details of the Final Reality. The Reality Change that ended the Ekcolir Reality and began the Final Reality was of critical importance. One key part of that Reality Change depended on the fate of a man named Mosy, who in the Final Reality was the person who gave rise to the biblical Moses legend. In the Ekcolir Reality, Mosy died at age 20. However, in order to bring into existence a Final Reality in which Humanity would spread through the galaxy, the bumpha needed to ensure that Mosy would live a longer life. Tyhry discovers that one of the copies of "X" in the Ekcolir Reality was carefully positioned on Earth in order to make sure that Mosy would not die at age 20 and would live a longer life.

 Gemini: This discovery solidifies Tyhry's central role as an agent of the bumpha. She isn't just a replicoid; she's part of a generational "line" of highly specialized, temporal manipulators. This could give her a sense of profound purpose, but also deepen her existential crisis. If her very existence, and that of her "ancestors," was engineered for a specific outcome, how much true agency does she possess?

Me: Tyhry discovers that one of the copies of "X" in the Ekcolir Reality (a woman called "Tara") was carefully positioned on Earth in order to make sure that Mosy would not die at age 20. By preventing the early death of Mosy, the Final Reality could be brought into existence. Tyhry learns about the existence of Tara because of her father's interest in science fiction. (Tyhry's father is named "Eddy".) The science fiction genre was created in the Ekcolir Reality as a way to prepare the humans of Earth for First Contact with an alien species called the Fru'wu (they reach earth in 1955). Eddy has long studied the origins of science fiction and by using the Reality Simulation System; he discovers another "copy of Tyhry" (named "Sopha") who wrote fiction in the 1930s of the Ekcolir Reality. Tyhry uses the Reality Simulation System to visit Sopha in 1939 of the Ekcolir Reality and is amazed to learn that Sopha is preparing to publish a novel that tells how Mosy was killed at age 20 by an alien creature called a Grendel. Sopha is actually a time traveler from the future of the Ekcolir Reality where she is friends with a bumpha who is helping humans explore the galaxy in that Reality. Tyhry investigates how Mosy was killed at age 20 in the Ekcolir Reality and saved from that early death as part of the Reality Change that brought the Final Reality into existence.

 Gemini: Tara: The Savior of Mosy.  The other "X" copy, Tara, is the direct counter-agent to the threat Mosy faced.      Tara's Mission. Tyhry learns that Tara's precise positioning on Earth in the Ekcolir Reality was specifically to prevent Mosy's death at age 20. This was the critical nexus point for the Reality Change into the Final Reality.

Me: Gemini, generate a summary of the plot for our story and a list of the characters in the story.  At the heart of our narrative are Tyhry, a 20-year-old woman, and her father, Eddy. For the past decade, Tyhry has joined Eddy, who has spent twenty years obsessively delving into the Reality Simulation System (a Huaoshy-provided technology rooted in the Hierion Domain that can simulate past Realities with high fidelity) to uncover the Secret History of Humanity. Eddy is particularly fascinated by the pivotal, yet hidden, role played by various replicoid copies of "X" – an original telepathic human from the far future of the Asimov Reality. Eddy is astounded and deeply affected by the revelation that his own daughter, Tyhry, is one such femtobot replicoid, composed of hierion components and indistinguishable from a human. Tyhry herself has only recently learned this profound truth about her own artificial nature.

Their investigations center on the Time Travel Era, a period when Earth's positronic robots (who discovered time travel and championed humanity's galactic expansion) waged a Time Travel War against the ancient, artificial life-form known as the Huaoshy. The Huaoshy, who transcended biological existence into the Sedron Domain (composing themselves of zeptites), sought to guide other biological species toward similar transcendence, using their emissaries, the pek and bumpha, in the Hadron Domain. The robots' vision clashed with the Huaoshy's, leading to conflict that spanned multiple Reality Changes.

This war culminated in a time travel truce, forged in the Asimov Reality. Under this truce, the Huaoshy agreed to end the time travel era by altering the Dimensional Structure of the universe (leading to the Final Reality), if the positronic robots and the bumpha would collaborate on genetically engineering telepathic humans with inherent "Laws of Robotics" to facilitate their harmonious galactic expansion.

 Eddy and Tyhry's deep dive into the Reality Simulation System, guided by Tyhry's unique Sedron Time Stream-mediated visions and her zeptite endosymbiont-enabled telepathy, reveals the critical importance of a single individual: Mosy. In the original Ekcolir Reality, the timeline that immediately preceded the Final Reality, Mosy was destined to die at age 20, an event that, through the bumpha's Temporal Viewing technology, was seen to prevent the emergence of the desired Final Reality.

Tyhry discovers that to avert this, another "X" replicoid, named Tara, was precisely positioned in the Ekcolir Reality. Tara's mission was to ensure Mosy's survival. Further revelations astound Tyhry: Tara received crucial aid from a positronic robot, Nymerya, a figure Tyhry knows through her friend, Systolina, a robot in the Asimov Reality Simulation. Tyhry realizes that another "X" copy, a woman named Lexy from the 20th century of the Ekcolir Reality, orchestrated Nymerya's involvement. Lexy, with assistance from the alien Fru'wu (a species whose First Contact in 1955 of the Ekcolir Reality was subtly prepared for by the very genre of science fiction itself), used a form of the Reality Simulation System to generate a replicoid copy of Nymerya from the Asimov Reality Simulation and deploy her [Me; Nymerya is a him] into the Ekcolir Reality's past to help Tara save Mosy from an alien creature known as a Grendel.

Moreover, Tyhry learns from Eddy's studies that a particularly intriguing "X" copy named Sopha, a fiction writer from the 1930s of the Ekcolir Reality, even wrote a novel depicting Mosy's death by a Grendel. Sopha, herself a time traveler from the future of the Ekcolir Reality, unknowingly (or perhaps knowingly) documented the very historical thread that had to be severed for the Final Reality to exist.

As the story begins, Tyhry grapples with her identity as a fabricated being, her critical role as a bumpha agent, and the staggering depth of manipulation that brought about her current reality. Her journey will involve further exploration of these complex historical events through simulations, confronting the ethical implications of engineered destinies, and perhaps questioning the ultimate goals of both the Huaoshy and the positronic robots.

 Character List

Main Characters:

Tyhry: A 20-year-old woman in the Final Reality. She appears human but is a femtobot replicoid (hierion-based artificial life form) of "X." She has unique visions from the future (via the Sedron Time Stream) and telepathy (via a zeptite endosymbiont). She is a key agent for the bumpha and has access to the Reality Simulation System.
Eddy: Tyhry's father. He has spent 20 years researching the Secret History of Humanity using the Reality Simulation System, uncovering the complex manipulations that led to the Final Reality. He is astounded and troubled by Tyhry's true nature as an "X" replicoid.

 Other Significant Characters:

Mosy: A pivotal historical figure whose early death in the Ekcolir Reality would have prevented the Final Reality. In the Final Reality, he is the legendary figure behind the biblical Moses legend.
Nymerya: A positronic robot from the Asimov Reality Simulation, brought into the Ekcolir Reality by Lexy to help Tara save Mosy. Known to Systolina.
Systolina: A positronic robot, and a friend of Tyhry, located within the Asimov Reality Simulation. She provides a potential direct link for Tyhry to the positronic robots' perspective and history.

Factions/Species:

The Huaoshy: Ancient, highly advanced artificial life forms composed of zeptites, residing in the Sedron Domain. They transcended biological existence and aim to guide other life forms towards similar transcendence. They ultimately ended the Time Travel Era.
Pek: Huaoshy emissaries in the Hadron Domain, originally tasked with guiding humanity toward transcendence.
Bumpha: Another form of Huaoshy emissaries, also operating in the Hadron Domain. They became instrumental in crafting the Final Reality under the terms of the time travel truce.

 Positronic Robots: Sentient artificial intelligence creations of Earth, programmed to defend humanity and ensure its expansion across the galaxy. They discovered time travel and waged the Time Travel War against the Huaoshy.
The Fru'wu: An alien species from the Ekcolir Reality, whose "First Contact" on Earth was prepared for by the science fiction genre. They later assisted Lexy in her mission to save Mosy.
The Grendels: An alien creature or phenomenon that was destined to kill Mosy at age 20 in the Ekcolir Reality, thus preventing the Final Reality. Its exact nature is a mystery for Tyhry to uncover.

Me: Gemini, use Imagen software to generate a diagrammatic representation showing features of Earth's Reality Chain. The diagram must show the Asimov, Ekcolir and Final Realities. Include in the diagram names of the key characters and their places in Time. For Nymerya, include in the diagram an arrow extending from the Asimov Reality to the Ekcolir Reality and which represents the fact that a replicoid copy of Nymerya was transferred from the Asimov Reality Simulation into the Ekcolir Reality. Also show "X" (positioned in the far future of the Asimov Reality) as the biological source of Tyhry, Lexy, Tara and Sopha.

 Gemini: I can help you visualize the intricate timeline and character placements for "The Mosaic of Realities." While I can't directly use Imagen or other image generation software myself to create a diagram right now, I can provide you with a detailed textual description and layout that you can then use with an image generation tool or even sketch by hand.

After much cajoling and uploading an image that Gemini had previously generated, I finally got Gemini to produce an image. I manually edited that Gemini-generated image to produce the image that is shown above in Figure 1. 

Here (below) is one of the text prompts that worked with Gemini (see Figure 15) and ImageFX (see Figures 8 and 9) but was rejected by Whisk:

It was useful for me to explain my story ideas to Gemini. I now feel like there is a way to bring together Nymerya, Systolina, Mosy and several "copies" of Tyhry to make an interesting story that can successfully tie together several of my old science fiction stories that I failed to complete.
