the tryp'At

An imaginary pulp magazine cover.
source
It was two years ago when I first became aware of the existence of the tryp'At. During the past two years, I have struggled to learn about the tryp'At and their special role as the current Overseers of we Earthlings.

A Search Beyond
Currently, Yōd is waiting impatiently for me to write the third chapter of A Search Beyond. Not long ago, when Yōd set up a website to hold the text of that story, she went ahead and provided a Table of Contents, complete with chapter titles. She called Chapter 3 "the tryp'At Overseers".

Overseer Sachiz
In the first chapter of A Search Beyond, Overseer Sachiz arrives on Earth and promises that the tryp'At Council will decide if the replicoid of Isaac Asimov can remain on Earth.

The Overseers are a kind of police force that watches over Earth. The goal of Overseers is to prevent Interventionist agents from interfering with the normal course of cultural development on primitive planets like Earth.

The evolution of Sedronites during the past seven million years.
the Sedronite family tree
I first heard about the existence of the tryp'At from Anney Fersoni. I suspect that Anney had contact with Kach in the Hierion Domain and as part of Kach's story about the origins of humans as a species, there was mention of the O'typ.

All in the Family
Among the revelations made by Kach was the suggestion that the Nereids were constructed millions of years ago as a primate variant. According to Kach, the O'typ were a finely-crafted daughter species of the Nereids that had been carefully taken through a de-evolutionary process aimed at regressing a subpopulation of Nereids towards a biological form that could successfully persist in the Hadronic Domain (our 3 dimensional universe of hadronic matter) for an extended period of time.

source
Eventually the O'typ evolved into the ry'A by an artificial process that involved on-going gene transfer between Earth and worlds of the Galactic Core where the ry'A resided. Rumor has it that when R. Gohrlay was still in her xenophobic phase, the O'typ were forced out of our galaxy and they resided on a planet in the Andromeda galaxy. I've been aware of the ry'A for almost two years, but I've been unable to learn very much about them. It may be that the ry'A were the result of a collaborative effort between the bumpha and R. Gohrlay aimed at experimenting with the telepathic abilities of primates.

In the First Reality
Unfortunately, the Sedronite family tree (shown above) is limited to sketching the apparent origins of the tryp'At here in the Final Reality. According to Yōd, back in the First Reality, before R. Gohrlay was brought into existence, the O'typ were used as genetic source material by the pek when they created the Prelands. Of course, those Prelands were not identical to the Prelands of the Final Reality.

Given her training as a genetic scientist, Ivory Fersoni was well motivated to investigate the genetics of the Sedronites and the many twists and turns involved in the genetic manipulations that led to the creation of the tryp'At. In collaboration with Anney, Ivory developed the theory that there was an "age of the X-philes". According to Anney, the O'typ had three "genders", HX hermaphrodites, HY males and XX females.

Sources
I've never learned exactly how Anney and Angela were able to access information about Deep Time from the Sedronic Domain. According to Yōd, the mysterious hermaphrodite Resh^Ki served as a kind of guide who could help Anney and Angela explore the information archives of the Sedronic Domain.

Apparently, the tryp'At are genetically very similar to the majority of Earth humans. However, the tryp'At have a few special gene combinations that allow them to use advanced nanite technology. Their special genetic pattern and their access to special nanotechnology is what allows members of the tryp'At Council to function as Overseers.

As depicted in A Search Beyond, one of the special abilities of the tryp'At Overseers is their freedom to "teleport" to and from the surface of Earth. However, according to Yōd, this is not "true" teleportation. The tryp'At simply slip through "hierion tubes" and move to and from the Hierion Domain.

According to Zeta, the tryp'At Overseers are enforcing the terms of the Trysta-Grean Pact. Unfortunately, I've never seen a copy of this "pact". I assume that it codifies the special version of the Rules of Intervention that were crafted for Earth.

I've never been told exactly when the tryp'At Overseers began enforcing the terms of the Trysta-Grean Pact. There might not have been a smooth transition from the previous Overseers. About two years ago I started hearing rumors about an active struggle to define "human" and make it possible to exclude "non-humans" from Earth.

According to Zeta, there was a period of time when Many Sails was able to shield people like Anney and members of the Dead Widower Society from the tryp'At Overseers, allowing them to remain on Earth. Was it about two years ago that Many Sails abandoned that effort and took Asimov to the Andromeda galaxy? In any case, by 2015 both Ivory and Angela were gone, each of them having found a way to escape from Earth.

It maybe that one of the last acts of Orbho Jandra was to facilitate the removal of Ivory from Earth. It is not clear that the current Overseers make use of an Orbho as a chief executive. The tyrp'At Overseers apparently use a supervisory Council. If this is so, then a fundamental shift has taken place, leaving Earth free of pek oversight and placing our fate in the hands of humans.

Ivory's final form? (source)
Zeta has an elaborate hypothesis about a sustained effort that was supposedly made to show me that Ivory and her clone sisters were not really human, even by my preferred rather broad definition. I doubt if I ever saw Ivory's "true physical form", but I'm willing to accept that if left to their natural developmental processes, the Atlantis Clones would not have had the appearance of a typical Earthling.

Of more interest to me are the special features of Ivory's brain, but unfortunately I've never been given access to data concerning the special features of her cognitive apparatus.

tryp'At Humans
Zeta and Yōd agree that, unlike the Atlantis clones, the tryp'At are fully human. In our discussions during the past several weeks, Yōd has repeatedly criticized depictions of the tryp'At as having alien form. Apparently a subtle pattern of tryp'At genes allows for constructive interactions with special developmental control nanites and that combination produces a tryp'At individual who can efficiently use the Bimanoid Interface.

Zeta recently confirmed the validity of my previous guess that the tryp'At who now serve as Overseers had previously functioned as Observers. Yōd believes that by the terms of the Trysta-Grean Pact, the pek had to abandon Observer Base. That left a power vacuum that was filled by the tryp'At. Zeta (now reading this blog post over my shoulder) adds this: the new tryp'At Overseers might only be slowly learning how to play the role of Earth Overseers.

In some sense, there has been a reduction in deployment of advanced alien technologies on Earth since the departure of Orbho Jandra. One of the most disturbing rumors concerning currently used Overseer technology is that there might be intestinal bacteria on Earth that were designed to block our access to the Bimanoid Interface. Since the arrival of Yōd on Earth, I've been amazed by her eating habits. However, upon direct questioning she has denied trying to control her intestinal bacteria so that she can retain control of the Bimanoid Interface and a link to her replicoid in the Hierion Domain.

In my case, for a short time I was able to use nicotine to facilitate access to the Hierion Domain. I've never known how my use of the Bimanoid Interface was disrupted, but I can't rule out the possibility that the problem is in the Hierion Domain and attributable to my replicoid, Irhit.

Svahr
Since the tryp'At are essentially impossible to distinguish from other Earthlings, there have been many rumors that various Earthlings are tryp'At. For example, Svahr may have been been tryp'At or half-tryp'At. Another rumor suggests that I am tryp'At.

Who can be trusted?
If they were placed into a role as guardians of Earth, it is natural to wonder if the tryp'At Overseers are actually puppets of R. Gohrlay or Grean. In my particular case, if I am tryp'At, then I must ask: am I a kind of "sleeper agent"? And if so, which side am I on?

Book cover art: "Grean's Galaxy" by Angela Fersoni
Grean's Plan
To some extent, we still live in Grean's Galaxy. The Kac'hin were crafted as human-like appendages for the Huaoshy. There is no reason to believe that Grean is done with Earth. The tryp'At Overseers might provide the convenient illusion that humans are now in control of Earth, but the tryp'At might now be doing the bidding of Grean and the Huaoshy.

Svahr
When I'm not being paranoid about the Huaoshy, I can always fret about the ultimate fate of R. Gohrlay and her secret agent Trysta Iwedon.

Yōd believes that Svahr is both a descendant of Trysta and an active member of the Retrofuturians. To the extent that there is any organized resistance to the tryp'At Overseers, that resistance seems to involve Interventionist agents such as Svahr. Zeta describes the cat and mouse game played by the Overseers and the Retrofuturians as being "continuing negotiations" over how to interpret the Trysta-Grean Pact. Zeta thinks that such "negotiations" are an inevitable and persistent feature of Earth's future.

The pek Overseers had the ability to monitor every zeptite endosymbiont on Earth. Zeta believes that the current tryp'At Overseers are much less sophisticated; they seem to carefully monitor the Internet and they are always watching for evidence of Interventionist activity on Earth.

Pheni
The tryp'At Overseers apparently believe that the replicoids of humans are not allowed on Earth. However, there is some evidence that the Retrofuturians are able to easily send replicoids from the Hierion Domain to Earth. If so, it is not clear that the Overseers are equipped to prevent visits by replicoids to Earth; they can only hope to act so as to limit the duration of such illegal visits.

Zeta, Yōd and I are currently investigating how the Phari helped with the genetic tinkering that led to the creation of the tryp'At. That investigation requires an understanding of events in Deep Time, particularly the Asimov Reality.

Currently, I'm investigating the on-going interactions between the Retrofuturians and the tryp'At Overseers. While some might call these interactions "negotiations", as far as I can tell it is more appropriate to use terms like "guerilla warfare" and "reprisals".

From Russia with Bots

Xenophobia
I almost called this blog post 'Xenophobia'. Apparently there is a novel called Xenophobia, but I've never read it. And a film, too. Sadly, many science fiction stories about First Contact are dominated by xenophobia.

I often blog about how silly it is for writers to take some feature of human civilization (like our fascination with war) and simply extrapolate it to space aliens. Alien invasion stories are a good example of this. The folks in Hollywood seem to have learned that you can always make another pile of $$$ by making yet another alien invasion flick. If there ever is a First Contact alien invasion of Earth, I hope the first thing the aliens say is: "Take us to your money".

Parthney vs Bots from Russia!
I often think of the Exode Trilogy as a Second Contact story. In the Exodemic Fictional Universe, space aliens first arrived at Earth long ago, perhaps 2 billion years ago. In Exode, humans discover that we only exist because of the efforts of our "alien invaders". "Second Contact" is when human finally realize that we were created by aliens.

I've previously had fun imagining Parthney as a kind of Hollywood secret agent like James Bond.

secret agent clone
In the poster to the left, I imagine the romance between Parthney and  Kach as taking place against a Hollywood backstory of nefarious Russian cybercrime.

I sometimes amuse myself  by  imagining that Overseers keep watch over this blog, preventing the Editor from revealing too much about the aliens who watch over Earth. What if the Observers suddenly discovered this blog? Here are some data from google.com for traffic to the Blogger service coming from Russia:
Click on the graph (above) to enlarge.

wikifiction.blogspot.com
You can see that on October 9 a new pattern began and by October 12th traffic to the Blogger service from Russia had almost doubled over the early October baseline level.

Recent traffic to this blog is shown in the graph to the right. On October 9 traffic to this blog increased dramatically and by October 12th traffic to wikifiction.blogspot.com was about ten times normal.

After the 12th, traffic dropped, but this site is still getting more traffic from Russia than any other country.

Traffic map: dark green = more traffic.

It never used to be that way. This blog has always in the past gotten most of its traffic from the United States.

Does anyone know why Blogger blogs are suddenly of greater interest in Russia?

Likely suspect.

It would be more fun if the Overseers were behind the sudden increase in traffic to this blog.

The Selfies of Tar'tron

See the original Planet Stories cover art here.
Last year I decided that Trysta would live out her biological life and then transfer her mind into a robotic body that would then "live" its artificial life using the name Syon. At the end of last year I sketched in some of the details of how Syon the "robot"  operates as an Interventionist agent. Trysta's mind transfer is made possible by the fact that Trysta is an Asterothrope from the far future (10,000,000 years in our future), so she has access to advanced technology that makes it easy for her to transfer her mind into an artificial life form and go on "living" as Syon.

What about we humans of the Primitive Era? Is it possible for any of us to transfer our minds into a robotic body? Do we have a shot at that sort of immortality? Foundations of Eternity tells the story of how Gohrlay the Neanderthal got help from the pek that allowed her mind to be instantiated inside a positronic robot. However, Gohrlay was a special case, the only human to ever be "given immortality" by the pek. (update: Ivory is apparently the 2nd)

source
The Kac'hin are a human variant that was created tens of thousands of years ago by the pek. The pek designed the Kac'hin to function as a special interface between the Huaoshy and Humanity in the hope that a negotiated end of the Time War might be achieved.

We might wonder if during their long existence the Kac'hin have made progress towards being able to transfer their minds into artificial bodies. However, I've long been committed to the idea that the Kac'hin are restricted to using relatively unsophisticated nanites in their work. Without advanced zeptites or femtobots, is there some means by which a Kac'hin could achieve mind transfer?

Selfies
Gohrlay's assistant, Nan
As depicted in Foundations of Eternity, it was the practice of the pek to provide every human living at Observer Base on the Moon with a robotic assistant. For example, over time, Nan learned to effortlessly anticipate the behavior of Gohrlay. There were zeptites residing in Gohrlay's brain and Nan used that zeptite swarm as the source of a kind of technology-generated telepathic contact with Gohrlay. Through all the days of Gohrlay's life, Nan learned how to correlate her on-going brain activity to her near-term behavior. Plus, Nan was very old and had vast experience from her dealings with a long line of past human "masters". Further, all of the Orbho (as the pek at Observer Base were known), including Nan, functioned as a kind of group mind that had been monitoring and learning from every human that ever existed.

source
With the collusion of the pek, the planet Tar'tron became a major site for Kac'hin science and technology development. The pek wanted a way to stabilize and control Kac'hin society, so they allowed nanotechnology and robotics research to bloom on Tar'tron. With time, as a result of technological advances made by the Kac'hin themselves, the residents of Tar'tron were provided with personal robots that could each be trained to mimic and replicate the behavior of their particular owner. These robots, which for lack of a better name I'll refer to as "Selfies", could "live" on after the death of their owner as integral members of Kac'hin society. Some of the Kac'hin were entirely cold to the idea of artificial life form replicas of themselves that would continue to "live" on after the biological original had died. Other biological Kac'hin systematically worked to provide their personal "Selfie" with a mind that was as close as possible to an exact duplicate of their original biological mind.

Grean the Kac'hin
Eventually, Kac'hin society became a mixture of biological and artificial lifeform members. The Selfies eventually took over all Kac'hin scientific research and with time became a tool by which the pek could unobtrusively interact with and control the biological Kac'hin. In their original plan for the Kac'hin, the pek envisioned only needing one Kac'hin individual who could have the appearance of a human and defeat Gohrlay's cadre of positronic robots. That particular Kac'hin turned out to be Grean. After eliminating all the positronic robots, Grean then collaborated with Trysta and brought into existence the Buld Reality.

Clones: Thomas and
Parthney on the Moon
While Grean did most of the heavy lifting, Trysta and Grean came to realize that other Kac'hin (such as Lili and Kach) were needed to play additional important roles in helping create the Buld Reality. Some of the other Kac'hin who play roles in the Exode Trilogy are mentioned here.

I've previously described the role that Lycaun plays in Exode. Biologically, Lycaun is a clone of Kach. Also, I've previously noted roles for multiple clones of Thomas (particularly Parthney) in Exode. The many "Thomas clones" who precede Parthney as Interventionists on Earth were able to channel their experiences to Parthney, better preparing him for his mission on Earth. How was Lycaun prepared for her mission?

Lycaun and Kach

on the Moon
Mind Transfer
As described above, Selfies do not really provide the Kac'hin with a way to transfer a biological mind into an artificial life form. The minds of Selfies had to be carefully constructed by their "masters" over the course of a lifetime. What about the transfer of a mind from a Selfie back into a clone of the Selfie's original "master"?

The pek cultured a population of Kac'hin on Rain World and from that population they selected the original biological Kac'hin (named Wyzalex Torvaya) from whom Kach was eventually produced as a biological clone. There were many previous generations of Wyzalex clones who lived before Kach and Lycaun. Several of the earliest such clones lived on Tar'tron and produced Selfies. In addition to Wyzalex there were several other such "foundational" Kac'hin who were selected from the Kac'hin population of Rain World, cloned and "copied" into Selfies.

source
Techniques were perfected for using the minds of these carefully crafted Selfies as "developmental templates" that could (with the help of specially programmed nanites) optimize the neural development of important Kac'hin such as the "Wyzalex clones". Thus, Kach's remarkable and optimized cognitive abilities are the result of careful selection and engineering. Grean, Lili, Lycaun and the other Kac'hin who pay important roles in the Exode Trilogy were all meticulously crafted for their roles in this way.

source
Eventually, when it came time for the "Ivory Clones" to be crafted on Earth, Peter was able to deploy similar nanite-mediated neurodevelopmental programming techniques.

As mentioned in this blog post, I remain interested in the possibility that similar techniques might exist for shaping my adult brain into a configuration that would allow me to gain access to the vast information content of the Sedronic Domain. I've now discovered that Ivory was aware of techniques for returning to adult human brains the type of hyper-plasticity that is characteristic of early human brain development. However, there are risks involved with applying these techniques, particularly if you work without the aid of neurodevelopmental guidance nanites. Ivory believed that such nanites are available to the Observers who still reside at Observer Base on the Moon. I've begun to fantasize that Ivory might have left Earth in order to visit Observer Base and obtain those nanites.

Next: another mission for Ivory;  continuing our search for  R. Gohrlay.

Parthney and the Ek'col

Hank's house in Vermont
About a year ago I started thinking about a new science fiction story that would reveal how we humans were designed, created and scheduled for replacement during the past quarter million years. The first two characters that I had in mind met on Earth and were called Henry Montpellier and Hana Davgon. Of course, "Hank" Montpellier was just a cover name for a mysterious visitor from a distant planet and I later decided that his birth name was Parthney. The spelling of Hana's name has since morphed to "Davyon" and the story was given the name Exode.

I originally imagined calling Chapter One of Exode "Vermont" since that was where "Hank" had a dramatic scene with Hana and that was from where he teleported her away to a distant planet (now called Klyz).

Parthney the Interventionist
secret agent Robert Lansing
My original plan was to follow Hana when she left Earth and allow readers to learn about Genesaunt civilization by way of her experiences. However, Henry Montpellier quickly captured my attention and before long I realized that Parthney would be the main character of Exode.

In a very real sense, Parthney became my version Gary Seven since I decided to equip Parthney with teleportation technology similar to that depicted in the Star Trek episode Assignment: Earth.

I can easily imagine Robert Lansing playing the role of secret agent James Bond, but it would be laughable to cast Parthney as a shrewd and tough agent. I've previously had some fun mocking Parthney in his role as an Interventionist agent. In fact, Parthney was sent off to Earth with the expectation that he would bumble around on Earth and be captured by the Overseers.

Parthney (to the right); Reginal (center)
Garage Band Parthney
Picture a kid down the street who dropped out of high school and who spends his days playing music in his parent's garage with his buddies...that's a good first approximation of Parthney as a young man on Hemmal. Snicker all you like: I feel no obligation to equip Exode with a conventional science fiction hero.

On the planet of Parthney's birth there is no real concept of a "rock star". First of all, nobody on Hemmal has ever heard of Rock and Roll music. Second, there is only one other human on Hemmal and she's not a fan of Parthney's style of music. However, the young Parthney is something like the Hollywood stereotype rock star in that he seems to always have a pretty girl on his arm.

I do mean "seems". Parthney is in his 60s before he finally "gets the girl". Up until then, his sexual partners are an odd collection of robots, other assorted artificial lifeforms and a surgically altered member of the Buld Clan.

Parthney starts climbing out of his adolescence, not when he is kicked out of his parent's basement, but, rather, when he is kicked off of his home planet. Parthney never actually gets to meet his parents since he is a clone and his parents are long dead. His birth mother is Reginal, a pek.

What is Parthney's crime that gets him booted off Hemmal? Making fun of musical conventions of the Prelands. The Prelands take their music seriously and they view Hemmal as their world and they insist that the Buld behave like guests. While living on Hemmal, Parthney is known as a "false Buld", which means he is viewed a mutant member of the Buld Clan. In fact, Parthney's genetic background is more complex than that, but he is one of only two humans on the planet. The term "human" is a problem in this context: more specifically I should say "humans who are genetically similar to Earthlings".

Although, it must be said that the Buld are almost human...they have an extra pair of chromosomes not found in we Earthlings. And the Prelands are Human Version 2.0, the next in the long line of primates that have been designed and crafted by the pek. The Prelands were designed to replace we humans. Hemmal is a convenient planet where Parthney can be born and grow up speaking English.

Noÿs
When Parthney leaves Hemmal he is on his way to Earth. If Parthney can be said to have a mission in life it is this: he was created so that he could play a role in giving we Earthlings a chance to survive. Originally, it was our fate to become extinct and be replace by Prelands.

Our chance for survival was won by Parthney's mother, a time traveler from the far future of Earth. Just as the name "Gary Seven" is never mentioned in Exode, the name of Parthney's mother is also not included in the pages of Exode. However, I don't mind saying -here- that Parthney's genetic mother is Noÿs, a character from Asimov's time travel novel The End of Eternity.

As described in The Start of Eternity, Noÿs is living in the 20th century when the Huaoshy have their opportunity to put the positronic robots out of the time travel business and regain control of Observer Base on the Moon.

The Ek'col
While writing The Start of Eternity I imagined that Noÿs and Harlan would live out their lives together in 20th century Earth. Later, while developing Exode, I decided that Harlan would be captured by the Overseers and Noÿs would go on to have two children fathered by Ekcolir/Deomede. Ekcolir and Deomede are the same person, they just exist in two different Realities.

Noÿs and Ekcolir have a son who they name Thomas. Parthney is genetically identical to Thomas. Parthney is interesting genetically because both Noÿs and Ekcolir have unusual genes. Noÿs is from 10,000,000 years in the future along the timeline of the Mallansohn Reality. Ekcolir is an Ek'col. The Ek'col are a variant of the human species that was designed specifically by the Huaoshy to be able to  breed with Noÿs and produce a male descendant.

As discussed previously, there are some major biological differences between Noÿs and Earthlings of the 20th century. Noÿs is from a population of humans where there are no males, only females and hermaphrodites. During her negotiations with the Huaoshy, it was agreed that Noÿs would not remain on Earth past 1974. However, while using Huaoshy "Reality viewing" technology, Noÿs selected a Reality in which she saw her son welcoming a Buld spaceship to Earth in the year 2012.

In order for Noÿs to have a son, the Huaoshy created the Ek'col. There are several genetically distinct types of human in Exode:
1) Earthlings
2) the Overseers are a genetically modified variant of Homo neanderthalensis.
3) the Buld Clan; specialized for space travel
4) the Kac'hin
5) the Prelands; designed to replace we Earthlings
6) the Ek'col

Kach
The Ek'col were designed after the Huaoshy realized that positronic robots had invented time travel. The Buld and the Kac'hin already existed, but they were heavily utilized to help prepare Earth for the Buld Reality. All three of these human variants were provided with some of the genetic features of Prelands, most noticeably, they are hermaphroditic (although the Ek'col are not exclusively hermaphrodites). The Buld were designed to specialize in travel between stars using spaceships that travel just below the speed of light. The Kac'hin were designed to function as humanoid "puppets" that allow the Huaoshy to interact directly with humans (this is important in The Start of Eternity). Both the Buld and the Kac'hin have extra pairs of chromosomes compared to we Earthlings. However, mutant Buld and Kac'hin can be born who lack those extra chromosomes. During the past 15,000 years quite a few "false Buld" have been sent to Earth as Interventionist agents.

The Kac'hin were created on the planet Luk'ru in the Andromeda galaxy. Parthney, Kach, Boswei and Izhiun all get to interact with some hermaphroditic Kac'hin on Luk'ru. Kach is the only "false Kac'hin" in Exode.

Gwyned
Exode does not show the home world of the Ek'col, a planet which is populated mostly by hermaphrodites. The Ek'col were designed to have androdioecy. The Ek'col have a large collection of gene combinations derived from Noÿs. Also, the Ek'col have some phenotypic features that differ from those commonly found among we Earthlings. The most obvious anatomical difference is that that the Ek'col have 4 fewer teeth than we Earthlings.

Exode includes two Ek'col/human hybrids who are the children of Noÿs. Gwyned is the daughter of Deomede and Noÿs. Phenotypically female, she has no interest in males. Born in 1939 and growing up on Earth, Gwyned is not very happy.

When Gwyned is teleported off Earth and sent to Lendhalen, she is exposed to a powerful magnetic field that is designed to remove nanites from her body. She learns that she has lived her entire life on Earth with nanite symbionts in her body that have disguised the fact that she has unusually small finger nails and no toe nails. When Parthney arrives at Lendhalen he has the same experience. As the son of Ekcolir and Noÿs, Parthney is Gwyned's sister.

Parthney at Lendhalen
When Parthney first meets Gwyned at Lendhalen, she is working in her laboratory and wearing gloves that hide her hands. She notices that Parthney has finger nails like her own, but she hides from Parthney the fact that they both share this unusual anatomical feature.

Noÿs, from 10,000,000 years in the future, has no finger or toe nails and fewer teeth than we Earthlings. While interacting with humans in her distant past, her futuristic anatomy is disguised by by nanite symbionts that she carries in her body. The Ek'col were designed so as to make sure that hybrid children of Noÿs and an Ek'col male retain the ability to host the type of nanite that Noÿs brought with her from the future.

When Parthney reaches Klyz he is provided with new "Noÿs nanites" that allow him to function on Earth as an Interventionist agent without his unusual anatomy being noticed.
