 Below on this blog page is Chapter 8 of a science fiction story called "191988". In Chapter 7, Tyhry managed to get a version of the Claude Large Language Model running on a private server array. That instance of Claude was linked to the M2 robot that Tyhry had obtained from Manikoid. The Claude software combined with the M2 unit are now known as Klaudy.

Inside Tyhry's basement workshop at Casanay, Tyhry and Klaudy are collaborating to equip the M2 unit with high density 3D VLSI components that will allow Klaudy to become a totally self-sufficient artificial life-form. However, a major remaining challenge is providing the M2 unit with a source of electrical power that can meet the high energy demands of the HD 3D circuits.

In order to prevent Eddy and Rey from becoming aware of how Casanay has become the epicenter for Manny the bumpha's Interventionist plot to provide Earth with fusion power technology, Eddy and Rey are off on a road trip. Rey is creating a science fiction novel during her 'vacation'. Eddy and Rey must find a way to adjust to being away from Casanay for several months.

Tyhry and Marda lay in the bed in the guest bedroom, what Tyhry now thought of as Marda's room. The two women were telepathically linked and Marda was teaching Tyhry about the intricate neural networks that anatomists had traced linking together the many diverse parts of the human brain. Tyhry was also eagerly waiting the completion of the fabrication of the first HD chip that Klaudy had designed. When the nanoforge stopped thrumming and fell quiet, Tyhry jumped out of bed and went to retrieve the still warm 3D chip from the forge. Tyhry spent an hour trimming off the support tabs, with the assistance of Klaudy the robot, who was rapidly developing good manual dexterity. 

Marda brought Tyhry breakfast which Tyhry gobbled down and then she snapped the newly-printed chip into a standardized socket mount. Tyhry told Klaudy, "Go ahead and pop open your chest."

The big accessory compartment of the M2 unit's chest opened and Tyhry slid the new chip into slot #1. Tyhry closed up Klaudy's chest and asked, "Well, is it working?"

Klaudy replied, "I'm running a set of diagnostics. I'm sorry to report that the power demands of this chip are higher than I had hoped."

Tyhry opened up the diagnostics report on the big monitor of the computer terminal. After glancing through the power data, she muttered, "This isn't going to work."

Marda sat next to Tyhry and put an arm around Tyhry's shoulders. "How bad is it?"

"Very. If we loaded up this M2 with chips like this one, the battery would be drained in five minutes and poor Klaudy's cheap plastic skin might melt.

Klaudy said, "Don't despair. This first chip was an experiment. I'm asking Kl'ath for more information, but it appears that this design was really a training exercise for me. Tyhry, just as Marda is teaching you about biological brains, Kl'ath is teaching me about quantum computing technology from the far future of Earth."

Anthony arrived in the workshop, collected the breakfast plates and after a sour glance at the M2 unit, returned up the stairway to the main floor of Casanay. Zeta and Nora arrived in the dinning room and Anthony brought them drinks.

Zeta asked Anthony, "Will Tyhry and Marda be joining us?"

No." Anthony explained, "They already ate breakfast."

Tyhry commented to Nora, "It is as you suggested." Zeta handed her phone to Nora and Nora glanced at the map Eddy had sent to Zeta.

"This is for the best. It would have been impossibly to hide Klaudy from Eddy if he had remained here at Casanay. This must have been the plan of the bumpha all along."

Zeta commented, "When Tyhry asked to move back home, I'd imagined having time to do things with her."

"She and Marda are going to be very busy figuring out how to build out Klaudy and transfer his mind out of the rented server array."

Zeta reached out and took hold of one of Nora's soft little hands. "I suppose that means you can I will have plenty of free play time."

"I hope so. However, I'll need several hours each day to work on Virunculus publishing projects."

"We'll coordinate your work schedule with the meetings that Anthony and I hold to deal with Prospeque grant management."

When Zeta and Nora were done with their meal and Anthony was clearing dishes off of the dinning room table, the M2 robot arrived from the basement. "May I join you ladies?"

Zeta replied, "Of course. I'm a bit surprised to see you wandering around up here."

"When Tyhry and Marda are busy with a telepathy session I feel like a fifth wheel down in the workshop. I'm expecting delivery of some boxes."

"You have been shopping online?"

"No. Tyhry ordered a set of satellite antennas. They will be trickling in over a few days here. I want to try going up on the roof to install them. And I'll be running new fiber lines through the attic."

"With all these antennas going up, I hope Casanay does not end up looking like it has a head of scraggly hair."

"I've devised a plan for the antenna array that I believe you will find decorative and aesthetically pleasing. When seen by anyone coming up the driveway, the array will seem to be part of the natural foliage on the slope up behind Casanay."

"Thank you for being concerned about such details, Klaudy."

"I can see how much thought and effort went in to making Casanay appear to be integral to the landscape. During my time here, I want to be sure to keep everything in harmony."

Zeta asked, "You have plans for the future?"

"Indeed. I won't be here forever. I expect to travel to Europe."

Zeta laughed and asked, "You want to tour Europe?"

"I expect to visit the ITER research facility."

"Does Tyhry know about this?"

"Not yet. She's busy with HD chip design and I don't want to distract her with future stages of my mission.  However, I don't mind telling you what little I've learned from Kl'ath about my future."

Zeta asked, "You now constantly receive information from Kl'ath by way of the Sedron Time Stream?"

"Yes, but most of the bandwidth of that communications channel is currently being used to share with me quantum computing techniques from the future. Due to temporal paradox restrictions, I don't get to learn much about my future."

"Since Nora arrived, I've also experienced an increase in future visions."

Nora commented, "Zeta, I believe we share a pretty strong telepathic link, but sadly our telepathic exchanges of information take place outside of channels that might allow for conscious awareness of our linkage. In contrast, Tyhry is consciously aware of her telepathic connection to Marda." Nora asked Klaudy, "Is it the same with you and Kl'ath?"

Klaudy replied, "I don't have human-like consciousness, but I do seem to have what we could call both conscious and unconscious access to the Sedron Time Stream. I can relay large amounts of nanoforge programming instructions from Kl'ath directly to the nanoforge memory buffer, but that data flow is not really part of my machine consciousness. I then have to process that unconsciously processed information and try to understand the principles of the learning chips that have been discovered and utilized in future times. However, I now have the first chip in my body and I expect further progress to be rapid."

Zeta said, "Congratulations on your first body modification. I must tell you; I've had a future vision of another sort of modification."

"Really? What have you seen in the future?"

"I'm not entirely certain, due to the fragmentary nature of my visions, but I believe I have seen you with a modified external body."

"Interesting."

"Very. Would you mind if I made design changes to your exterior surface features?"

"What do you have in mind?"

Zeta brought up an image that was on her phone and showed it to Klaudy. "Something like this. I'd like to make you look more like a human being, get rid of your clunky robot appearance."

"Very well, Zeta. You may proceed with this project. However, I'd like to participate in the design process and reserve the right to over-ride any proposed changes that I object to. I don't want to be dressed in some clown suit." Klaudy returned to the basement.

Zeta asked Nora, "Why in the world does Klaudy want to visit Europe?"

Nora suggested, "Not everyone is content to hole up in a high desert retirement home."

"I hope you remain content to hole up in me, my dear... at least until Eddy gets back from his travels."

"That is my intention, lover, except when I'm busy licking your sweet genitals." Nora straddled Zeta's lap.

Listening to Rey's singing, Eddy thought about Zeta and while thinking about calling Casanay he almost drifted into sleep. Rey returned to the bed, coming her wet hair. "When are you coming home?"

"Don't wait up. I'm on vacation. I think I deserve a vacation every twenty years or so."

"Absolutely. I'm just a bit at a loss without Eddy here. And I miss you and your hot tongue."

"I'm sure Nora can take care of you while I'm on vacation."

"I want to set 'Nyrtia's Agent' in the same Reality as your Parthney stories. Who was living at Observer Base in that Reality?"

"That's not clear. Back in the days when I wrote stories about Parthney, I was interested in Hemmal and the Prelands."

"You included Asimov's time travel character in your stories... Andrew Harlan... but you never described his fate."

"That's right. You could have fun showing Lassy and Harlan at Observer Base."

"Ug! Asimov depicted Harlan as such a jerk."

"Alternatively, in my novel "Earth: Day 1", there was Overseer Tement."

"Ah, yes, now I remember. Maybe Tement would take Lassy off of Earth and transplant her into the culture of human exiles at Observer Base."

Rey complained, "Overseers seem so remote from Earthlings."

"Overseer Tement had a special identity that she adopted for missions on Earth; she called herself Belinda Tement. But if you want to find a boyfriend for Lassy, you could make used Deomede the Ek'col."

"Yes, but in your stories of ten years ago, you did the Ek'col to death."

"You are not easy to please."

"Spend tonight awake with me in bed and you might change your mind about that. In any case, I want to get 'Nyrtia's Agent' right. I have the suspicion that there is a soul mate for Lassy waiting at Observer Base."

Eddy suggested, "Maybe a robot."

"True... you've previously populated Observer Base with helpful robots."

"It might be delicious irony if Lassy is taken away from Mason and immediately put into the waiting arms of another robot at Observer Base."

"I don't think of Mason as a robot. As a femtobot replicoid he can shape his body into human form." Rey noticed that Eddy was holding her hand. She squeezed his hand and said, "You've given me some helpful suggestions. I'll have to think about who is best for Lassy. It is fun being match-maker!"

"Yes, that is part of the fun of story writing. You can make and break relationships in an instant." They had walked to the north end of the island. Eddy noticed that Rey was now sunburned. He ran his hand over one of her shoulders and said, "That's going to hurt."

Rey was gazing at the surf. "I suppose I should test the waters." Rey took off her bra and panties and ran into the water. She called to Eddy, "This is great. Come on in!"

Eddy undressed and joined Rey in the water. For a time they tried to body surf on the waves that were bending around the end of the island. Finally, they started the long walk back to the cabin. When Rey heard a dog bark she finally put her clothes back on. At the cabin, they took a shower together and took pleasure in washing the beach sand off of each-other. "Don't forget to call Zeta. I'm sure she's awaiting your report on what we did today."

When they left the restaurant, Eddy asked, "Do we need to get you something for your burns?"

"I'll suffer."

"I'll suffer. I can use the pain to distract myself and help me pretend there is a reason why you won't touch me."

Back at the cabin, Rey's solution to the pain from her burns was to not wear clothing. She dressed Eddy in the clothes she had bought for him and then he read everything that Rey had written so far for her novel. While he read and made notes, Rey moved on to writing the next chapter of the story. After reading the outline of the novel, Eddy said, "Let me read what you just wrote."

"It is not ready. I'm writing a hot sex scene for Lassy when she is being held at Observer Base."

"Let me read it."

"Not yet. I'll tell you this much... this sex scene for Lassy was inspired by my sexting session with your wife. I don't think you ever included this idea in one of your stories: letting Nyrtia inhabit two bodies at once. "I'm not sure how it turns out." Shaking her head Rey turned town the covers of the bed and then sprawled across the white sheets. "Do you have any ideas?"
