 In my previous two blog posts (here and here), I tested the size of the context windows of Gemini Advanced and Claude 3 Sonnet. Both chatbots were able to process about 12,000 words of text related the the science fiction story "The Nanite Smuggler" (summaries of scenes 1-19, the full text of scenes 19 and 20, and plans for scenes 21-24).

I suspect that Gemini was close to its limit for retaining information. Here, I tried adding another 3,300 word-long scene (the full text of scene 18) and a 300 word summary of scene 20 that was generated by Gemini (shown below in purple).
