The Nereids of Ver'la

Below on this page is Part 9 of the science fiction story "D*". At the end of Part 8, Tyhry had just met Elyrix the Grendel. The Grendels were designed by the Nereids. 

Manny the bumpha extracts Tyhry from the Asimov Reality Simulation. Manny wants to prepare Tyhry for contact with the Nereids, a technologically advanced species from the Asimov Reality. Tyhry's meeting with a Nereid takes place in an orbital station above the planet Ver'la.

The image in Figure 1 shows they type of space station that ImageFX or Whisk will generate when the text prompt specifies "a futuristic alien space station". However, the Nereids are hundreds of millions of years old and so any space station they would build should be much more technologically advanced than what is depicted in Figure 1. For Figure 2 I specified, "many small fractal complex surface features that include tiny multicolored light sources".

The user interface for Whisk has been changed again by the programmers at Google. Now the only button that remains visible on the face of Whisk-generated images is the "ANIMATE" button. However, if you click on a Whisk-generated image then you get the pop-up editing window (see Figure 3) that used to be accessed by clicking on the "refine" button. I don't understand the current trend in user interfaces where user controls become invisible and you have to just know where to click to access important features of the software.

Elyrix shrugged and quickly accepted the facts that she could sense in Tyhry's thoughts: they were all inside a sophisticated Simulation. She continued communicating telepathically. I suppose if this is all a simulation then it does not matter, but please tell me Tyhry, why do you want teleportation technology?

Lost World trilogy

Tyhry explained, "In my Reality, we humans have access to a teleporter... the one inside Eternity. But it has been inactivated. I just want to re-activate that teleportation equipment so that my friends can travel between Earth and Observer Base. For example, my friend Marda has been isolated from her lover... her mind clone... all of their lives. It is cruel."

Elyrix shook her head. I doubt if I can help you. As a Grendel, I know next to nothing about teleporter technology. But I can take you to the site of the long-range teleporter node that is here in Arizona.

Tyna said, "So there is a Gendel base here?"

Elyrix giggled. Never. We Grendels like water, not deserts. She glanced out the window at the passing cacti of the Moon-lit desert landscape. 

Mylana noticed that they were no longer on their pre-programmed route to the mountains. "Hey, we are too far south."

Elyrix spoke for the first time, "We are going to Mt. Picachu. There is teleportation equipment there... in an underground chamber." Elyrix dispersed her clothing nanites and the four women resumed the interrupted sexplay session with Elyrix the Grendel enjoying several shared orgasms with the humans and a chance to impress them with her alien genitals. Tingling with her own sexual pleasure, Tyna now understood her mother's tales about wonderful shared telepathically-enhanced orgasms with a Grendel.

The car finally stopped in the middle of the desert, at a spot on a dirt road where Mt. Picachu could be seen on the horizon, blotting out their view of the stars. Elyrix used her programmable nanites to cloth herself and the three humans in dark jumpsuits. She led them out into the star-lit night just before dawn. After walking from the road into the desert hills, somehow Elyrix caused a tunnel opening to open up in the ground and they all went inside that well-lit tunnel.

The tunnel slanted steadily downward. Responding to questions from Tyhry, all Elyrix would say was that they would eventually reach a chamber below Mt. Picachu. "I've never been here before, but this is all as I was told long ago during my training years. This is an emergency exit from Earth for we Grendels, but I don't know that it has ever been used."

After hiking for five miles through the featureless tunnel, they reached the promised chamber and were met by two more Grendels, one a child of about five years of age. The elder Grendel telpathically communicated with Tyhry: You are in luck. The Nereids want to meet you.

Mylana gestured towards the two other Grendels and asked Elyrix, "Who are they?"

Elyrix and Tyna were both trying to telepathically follow the communication between Tyhry and the other Grendel. The young Grendel child approached Tyna and placed a hand on one of Tyna's lower breasts. She said, "It seems strange to find a tryp'At here on Earth."

The older Grendel now spoke. "When your approach was detected, I was sent here to test the teleportation equipment, which has not been used for millions of years. Now I will send you on to Ver'la. Please get on the teleportation platform." She gestured towards a nearby pedestal.

Tyna and Mylana both asked, "Ver'la?"

Tyhry explained, "Ver'la is a world of the Nereids." 

The Grendel child took Tyna and Mylana by the hand and pulled them up the steps onto the teleportation platform. Elyrix followed along.

Tyhry could now telepathically sense in the thoughts of Elyrix that these two other Grendels were mother and daughter and they were named Ethyrolmn and Jymy. Tyhry asked the older Grendel, "Ethyr, is it safe for humans to visit Ver'la?"

Ethyrolmn grinned, revealing small pointed teeth. Ah, you are worried about gravity.

Tyhry nodded , "Isn't Ver'la a large water world? I don't want to end up crushed under water."

Ethyrolmn put an arm around Tyhry and walked her up onto the teleportation platform. Little Jymy said, "You are not going to the planet itself. I was just there... inside an orbital station." She told her mother, "Let me go with them!"

Ethyrolmn climbed down off of the platform and Jymy took hold of one of Tyhry's hands. Jymy telepathically told Tyhry: Relax. Nothing bad will happen to us. Ethyrolmn went to the control panel for the equipment and with quick motions of her hands, Ethyrolmn activated the long-range teleporter. Jymy, Tyna, Tyhry, Mylana and Elyrix vanished. They had teleported off of Earth and were sent away to the Galactic Core.

Expecting to arrive in the Galactic Core with her travel companions, Tyhry was startled to suddenly be face-to-face with Manny the bumpha. Tyna was still holding the hand of Jymy, and Tyhry could telepathically sense Jymy's surprise. Manny said, "Pardon me for interrupting your trip to the Core, but I want to provide you with a warning."

Manny was filling young Jymy's mind with information about exactly who Manny was. Tyhry noticed that there was another young girl there in the room. Jymy yanked her hand out of Tyhry's and went to the other girl. Then the two girls left the room, running off hand-in-hand. Tyhry muttered, "That's another copy of you..."

Manny put her arms around Tyhry and replied, "Exactly. I wanted to reward Jymy for her help." 

After watching the two girls run off, Tyhry turned her attention back to Manny and began playing with Manny's amazing nanite-generated hair. She told Manny, "I never expected to have an opportunity to meet the Nerieds."

Manny was sending information nanites into Tyhry's brain and educating Tyhry about the long history of the Nereids. "The Nereids long ago transcended into the Hierion Domain. When you arrive inside Weene space station, you will be met by an artificial life-form that mimics the physical form of the Nereids as they originally evolved in the ocean of Ver'la, hundreds of millions of years before apes evolved on Earth. That Nereid will be what you think of as a femtozoan... and artificial life form composed of hierions that naturally exists in the Hierion Domain, but which can also visit the Hadron Domain."

Tyhry was thinking about her newly formed memories of the Nereids. "The Nereids helped guide evolution on Earth?"

Manny explained, "They made some alterations to the evolution of early mammals on Earth in the Asimov Reality which resulted in the Sesterials."

Tyhry could review implanted memories of Sesterial primates in her mind. Tyhry asked, "There are apes with three nipples?"

Manny giggled and placed her hands on Tyhry's two lower tryp'At style breasts. "Just because you have four pretty nipples don't reject the possibility of a humanoid with three breasts. Such creatures evolved in South America of the Asimov Reality, but they were taken off of Earth by the Nerieds. If you like, I can arrange for you to meet a Sesterial."

Tyhry glanced at Manny's chest and noticed a third nipple at the center of her thorax. Tyhry giggled and said, "You know I can't resist..." Tyhry put her lips of Manny's third nipple and began to suck. Her mouth exploded with the tingling sensation of a potent klytykynyn from Manny's secretions stimulating the klytykynyn receptors in her mouth. All of Tyhry's erectile tissue quickly engorged with blood. Manny flopped onto a large comfortable bed and spread her legs. Tyhry wasted no time sliding her big tryp'At erection into Manny's hot wet vagina. Soon Tyhry and Manny were caught up in a shared orgasm trance that allowed Tyhry maximal access to Manny's mind.

As her intense orgasm ended, Tyhry telepathically thanked Manny: Thank you for educating me about the Nereids. I've read stories that were written by Ivory Fersoni about aliens called Trilateroids, but I never saw Nereids depicted as having three nipples.

Manny was preparing to send Tyhry back into the Asimov Reality Simulator. She told Tyhry: You and your friends are about to become the first humans to meet a Nereid. Anything you might have read about Nereids is fiction based upon rumors.

Out of the corner of her eye, Tyhry saw Jymy, but then she was sent back into the Asimov Reality Simulation. From the perspective of Tyna, Mylana and Elyrix, Tyhry and Jymy had never been absent. They arrived inside a Nereid space station called Weene. A large view-port provided a view of the planet Ver'la, dazzling white with some hints of blue ocean under the clouds.

Tyhry sensed another telepathic mind and she turned. Tyhry saw the Nereid. Having also noticed the Nereid, Jymy ran and tried to grab on to the Nereid, but the girl's arms passed right through the Nereid who "spoke" by way of some sort of telepathic signal that penetrated all of their minds: Back again, little one... and with friends? As each of the Nereid's words and thoughts entered into Tyhry's consciousness, they seemed to flip and dance and then integrate into her own language-like thought channels.

Tyhry approached the Nereid and her reaching hand also passed through the aliens "body". She asked, "You are an artificial life form?"

Manny loves Tyhry.

The Nereid explained: I long ago transcended into the Hierion Domain, but I still keep watch over Ver'la.

Tyna asked the Nereid, "Is this your true physical form?"

The Nereid replied, "I have used many physical forms. This one is suitable for viewing by Grendels."

Jymy telepathically told the Nereid: These are human beings, from planet Earth.

The Nereid said, "Yes, I see that these three are tryp'At." The Nereid gazed into Tyhry's eyes. "Reality simulation. Amazing! I sense nothing that indicates this is a simulation."

Tyhry said, "I'm using advanced bumpha technology to visit this Reality. I'm in search of programmable femtobots."

If you want knowledge of femtobots and hierions you should seek out the Phari.

Tyhry muttered, "The Phari are notoriously hard to locate."

The Nereid said: I see in your mind the technological challenge that you face. Why not ask your friend Manny the bumpha to provide you with the femtobots that you seek?

Tyhry crossed her arms and replied, "I suspect that you can see in my mind that Manny expects me to solve my own problems. I'm actually grateful for that... I get to have adventures such as this journey to the Galactic Core." Tyhry looked over her shoulder at the bright face of Ver'la which was surrounded by the dense bright stars and nebulae of the central region of the galaxy. Tyhry asked, "Is it really true that Ver'la once existed in Earth's solar system?"

Yes, that is true. Long ago we had reason to visit Earth, but then we left that world to the care of Grendels.

Tyhry loves Manny.

Tyhry had been trying to focus her eyes on the translucent figure of the Nereid. It seemed as if the Nereid did indeed have three nipples. The Nereid pointed at its third nipple and explained: My people genetically modified our original biological form to... ah, I see in your mind that you have the concept... what you call synapex linkages. Nereid parents used the third nipple to form direct brain links to their children.

Jymy said, "But you have already established such a mind link with me."

The Nereid told Jymy: I am inside the Hierion Domain. Even if I instantiated this body in the Hadron Domain, I doubt if you and I could form a physical link between our bodies. Nereids designed Grendels, but our biologies are distinct, having evolved on separate worlds. I have linked our minds using femtobot-assisted telepathy.

Tyhry could telepathically sense what the Nereid was telling Jymy. She asked the Nereid, "Can you allow me to form a deep telepathic link to your mind so that I can learn your femtobot programming techniques?"

Tyhry, you have a beautiful mind, but it would take some effort for me to learn your tryp'At mind pattern. However, I will provide you with some femtobots that will be of use to you. The Nereid made a gesture. The femtobots are inside you now, Tyhry.

There was a dislocation of Tyhry's consciousness and she found herself back in her nanite research laboratory in the Ekcolir Reality. The two Tynas were across the room, speaking to one of the replicoid copies of Tyhry who noticed Tyhry's return from the Asimov Reality Simulator and who said, "There is Tyhry now."

Tyhry was wearing the sparkling nanite-generated clothing that had been provided by Elyryx. The younger Tyna rushed to Tyhry and excitedly asked, "Were you successful?"

Sorsyph the Felydyan.

Tyhry commanded some of the Grendel clothing nanites to go to Tyna and they did. Tyna giggled as sparkling nanite-generated clothing spread over her body.  Tyhry said, "I've returned with some new nanites..." Tyhry fell silent. She now knew the nature of the programmable femtobots that she had obtained from the Nereid. She announced, "I'm going into space." She turned and now noticed that a replicoid copy of Jymy had been popped out of the Asimov Reality Simulation. Ignoring the presence of Jymy and all else, Tyhry exited from the laboratory and walked quickly towards Sedrover.

The older Tyna called after Tyhry, "Where are you going?"

Tyhry telepathically replied: I'm going to Eternity!

Tyhry was telepathically organizing the replicoids who constituted the crew of Sedrover. Tyhry entered the spaceship and went directly to the main control room. The Tyhry replicoid who piloted Sedrover arrived in the control room just a few seconds after Tyhry. The replicoid could telepathically sense that Tyhry was thinking about Sorsyph the Felydyan. The replicoid asked Tyhry, "You know the location of the femtotube entrance to Eternity?"

Tyhry replied, "No, but I believe I can find it. Set course to Gyryph."

Marda and the two Tynas and Jymy arrived in the control room. The younger copy of Tyna and Jymy were in the middle of a conversation constructed from isolated words and bursts of telepathic communication. Marda asked Tyhry, "What's all of the excitement?"

Sedrover pulled out of the hanger and was soon rising up through the atmosphere. Tyhry told Marda, "I have some new femtobots from the Nereids." Seeing that a course for Gyryph had been laid in, Tyhry took Marda by the hand and led the girl to the cabin that Tyhry used while onboard Sedrover. Tyhry tossed Marda on the bed and quickly got her tryp'At erection inside Marda and formed a synapex linkage directly to Marda's nervous system.

Marda was amazed by the ease with which she could now explore Tyhry's memories and mind. We've never had such an efficient mind-link before! I see all that happened to you there at Weene. But where are the Nereid femtobots?

Tyhry explained: They are inside me. And watch this... Tyhry held her right hand in front of Marda's face and then her hand disappeared.

Marda spoke."What the hell?"

Needing to hear her own racing thoughts, Tyhry also spoke out loud. "Marda, I'm a femtobot construct... something like a replicoid... an artificial life form designed to mimic a biological organism."

"Just like Tyna?"

"Exactly. My whole life I believed I was biological, but I'm not. And now, with the Nereid femtobots, I can control the femtobot components of my body that are... me."

The Tyhry replicoid in the control room telepathically signaled to Tyhry: We are fast approaching Gyryph. Sorsyph wants to know why we have returned.

Tyhry kissed the tip of Marda's node then she yanked her stiff penis out of Marda's tight little vagina. Using her new programmable femtobots, Tyhry reshaped her body, neatly tucking her erection back into its abdominal sheath and she finished covering her body in the sparkling Grendel clothing nanites as she entered into the Control Room. Tyhry spoke to the image of Sorsyph that was on the display screen of the communications station, "Hello, Sorsyph. You are looking quite beautiful."

Sorsyph was using a body form that Tyhry had never seen before: that of a cat-woman with dark fur. Sorsyph said, "Welcome back to Gyryph, Tyhry. I was not expecting your return."

Tyhry told Sorsyph, "I've obtained some advanced Nereid femtobots. I believe I can slip through a hierion femtotube and gain access to the teleportation equipment of Eternity."

Sorsyph smiled. "Ah, you have discovered that you are composed of hierions. I noticed that when you visited Gyryph the first time, but I was unwilling to tell you that truth. You were quite convinced of your biological nature. I felt it was not my place to reveal the truth to you."

Tyhry said, "That is all behind us. Now, tell me, how can I locate the femtotube entrance to Eternity?"

Sorsyph giggled, "You need not have come into outer space on this mission, Tyhry. All those stories you read as a child that placed Observer Base on the Moon were just deception. Observer Base is in the Hierion Domain, as close to Earth as it is to the Moon."

"But how does one find an hierion femtotube?"

Sorsyph explained, "If you have the correct hierion field generator technology then you simply make an hierion femtotube."

Tyhry slapped the palm of her hand against her head. "Of course. Would you like to accompany me?"

Sorsyph replied, "There is nothing for me at Observer Base." Sorsyph pointed over Tyhry's shoulder in the direction of Jymy. "Is that a Grendel?"

Tyhry glanced over her shoulder at Jymy and then nodded. "She's from the Asimov Reality."

Holding hands, Jymy and the younger copy of Tyna approached Tyhry. Jymy said, "I can open a femtotube into the Hierion Domain. That's the first use of femtobots that Grendels learn from their parents, in case we ever need to quickly escape from danger. But I want to make a deal. First, give Tyna her tryp'At body form."

Tyhry signaled for the young Tyna to approach. Tyhry took hold of the girl's hand and said, "Let's try an experiment. Which finger do you like least?"

Tyna wiggled her pinky finger and asked, "Do you know what you are doing?"

"No. Hold still." Tyhry used her Nereid programmable nanites and formed an hierion containment field around Tyna's little finger. The finger drifted away from the rest of Tyna's hand. A small amount of blood oozed from the wound on Tyna's hand where her finger had been severed from her body. Tyhry telepathically commanded the Nereid femtobots to reprogram the femtobot components of Tyna's finger. The finger disintegrated, escaped from the make-shift containment field that Tyhry has constructed, and then re-attached to Tyna's hand. Tyhry told Tyna, "I think this will work, but it might not be perfectly smooth. Here we go." 

Tyhry telepathically commanded the programmable femtobots to inactivate the program inside Tyna's body that was forcing her to maintain the bodily form of a normal Earth human. Tyna's body seemed to crumble into dust. Tyhry looked at the pile of nanite dust on the floor and said, "Hmm."

Then the nanites began to re-assemble, reconstructing Tyna, now with two cute pointed ears, four nipples, two vaginas and a penis; all of her tryp'At body parts. Tyna said, "Thank you, Tyhry!" Tyna took hold of Jymy's hand and she said, "Let's try out my new body parts."

Observer Base

Tyhry reached out and placed a hand on Jymy's shoulder and said, "Before you two go off to play, show me how to make a femtotube."

Jymy pointed at one of Tyhry's lower breasts and the Grendel clothing nanites pulled away, revealing the breast. Jymy took the nipple in her mouth which popped erect. A synapex link formed between Jymy's tongue  and Tyhry's nipple and their minds began to communicate directly. Now Tyhry could "see" everything that Jymy knew about femtotubes. She said, "Thank you, now I understand."

Jymy broke the synapex connection and departed from the control room with the young Tyna. The Tyhry replicoid asked, "Where to now?"

Tyhry said, "Take us home." The older Tyna and all of the copies of Tyhry were telepathically "watching" the younger Tyna as she made use of her new tryp'At body parts. 

The pilot of Sedrover set course for Earth. She could sense what Tyhry was thinking. The replicoid told Tyhry, "Don't do anything rash. How do you know that your femtotube links to Eternity? Here in this Reality, you can be safely teleported to Observer Base."

Tyhry said, "Relax. I've already tested the femtotube... I sent through a probe drone and it returned safely. I need to find out if these Nereid nanites can control the teleportation equipment at Observer Base and I want to experience passage through a femtotube." Tyhry noted that the young Tyna was sending her another thank you, having experienced her first penile orgasm. Then Tyhry could no longer resist the lure of her own mission. She began feeding her femtobot components through the hierion femtotube that she had linked to Eternity and she passed through the tube into Eternity.

Marda had been looking right at Tyhry when Tyhry seemed to vanish.
